A special education teacher is an educator who is specially trained to teach children who have disabilities/special needs. Special education teachers are typically gifted in multi-tasking, as they must help their students learn as well as help modify students’ behaviour. Special education teachers also aid in a student’s social development. These teachers must spend years in an accredited school to earn the credentials they need to teach special education students.

Special education teachers are responsible for creating and implementing educational techniques that are applicable to their students who have disabilities and special needs. This type of teacher usually works with a student’s parents and health care professionals to assist with a child’s overall development. Special education teachers obviously have a great deal of responsibility, and are often quite instrumental in the present and future success of a student.
