Do I qualify for CPP?
Hi, I am 35 years old in the IT field who resides in Mississauga. Through 10 years of my professional work life (and previous), I have never been able to hold a job and have hit rock bottom recently. I realize that I am no longer employable or compatible in the workplace after 8 jobs in 9 years with no references; I have become damaged goods and no longer get contacted/considered for employment. I’ve come to terms with the fact that my next job will lead to another quick job loss. I have both
anxiety
and
adult ADHD
creating poor work performance, and social work behaviors. Both are currently untreated. I have not seen a specialist yet for diagnosis or treatment for the ADHD. I was diagnosed at an Emergency Room for anxiety/panic disorder about 2 years ago. I called CPP and they said I was eligible because I paid into CPP. I don’t know the ‘rules’ or how these things worked. She just told me to fill out an application and they would make a decision in 6 months and she mentioned the appeal process like it was routine. That kind of scared me. I was advised on Internet forums to consult a lawyer before I do anything. I do not have private insurance. I was wondering if you guys could offer any help.. or if I can qualify.
I have lived a fairly difficult life and it's not a matter of just 'changing jobs' anymore. I always used to think that was the answer. And the same things get repeated over and over.I'm also not good with labor jobs as I have a tendency to get physically confrontational and lose my temper and get fired on the spot. I'm not 'one of the boys' and don't do well with ribbing and being spoken down to. I'm just being honest. Aside from the workplace stuff, I'm a really nice guy in my home life and personal life and think I could eventually do well with self employment down the road. But for now, I'm very stuck and don't know what to do. I need help on how to proceed forward..
