at higher risk?
hi guys, i am a musician and almost everyday i have shows together with my band mates. i am now more concern about the thought of being at more higher risk in hearing problems because of the not normal lifestyle that i have. how true is this, anyone?

prolonged exposure to loud music may or may not result to hearing loss
depending on the amount of time each day you practice or have shows.
btw, how long have you've been in the band?

yes you are at high risk due to continuous exposure to loud sounds. you will most likely develop some degree of music induced hearing loss.

Hi laurent, as a musician of course you deal with music. But this is all I can say. The risk of having hearing loss is depending on the decible you take every day. Decibel is the logarithmic unit to measure the power or intensity quantity. Most concert contain a 110 dBA SPL. From 0-80 is normal but to go beyond it is dangerous. -Rain

Playing musical instrument in a lower volume is not disturbing. Unless you play with a huge speaker on the side. If so you can go see a doctor so that you'll know if you have hearing loss problem.

Did you feel any noise on your ear? Or any feeling that might lead you into hearing loss problem? If not there is nothing to worry about laurent.

People who are constantly exposed to a high level of noise or volume would be at risk of hearing loss. I suggest you wear ear plugs to give your ears a break!
Good Luck!
