Does Your Child Suffer From Cri-Du-Chat Syndrome? Yes, Then Get Disability Benefits Today!

Cri-du-Chat syndrome (also known as Lejeune’s Syndrome) is a relatively rare genetic disorder which arises as a result of a missing part of Chromosome 5. Affecting approximately 1 in 37,000 to 50,000 live births, Cri-du-Chat syndrome gets its name from a French term that translates to ‘cat-cry’ or ‘call of the cat’ since the victims of the condition tend to exhibit cat-like cry.

First described in 1963 by Jerome Lejenue, Cri-du-Chat syndrome is a condition that is more prevalent in females as compared to males (with a 4:3 ratio). As mentioned above, the primal symptom of this condition is the cry of affected children which can be best described as sounding like the meowing of a kitten. Meanwhile, a child suffering from Cri-du-Chat syndrome can exhibit other symptoms as well. The list of these other symptoms includes things such as feeding problems (as a result of the difficulty in swallowing or sucking), low birth weight, poor bodily growth, severe cognitive delays, severe speech delays, severe motor delays, behavioral issues (such as hyperactivity, tantrums, aggression, and repetitive movements), excessive dribbling, and constipation.

Hence, it is evident that having a child who suffers from Cri-du-Chat syndrome could spell quite a lot of parenting work for his or her guardian. It is for this reason that the Canadian government offers you and your child considerable disability benefits if your child were to be diagnosed with Cri-du-Chat syndrome. Not only would these disability benefits reduce the financial obligations that arise with treatment, but these benefits would also help reduce the emotional burdens that the diagnosis has created at your home.

Hence it makes complete sense for you to read up as much as you can about Cri-du-Chat syndrome as well as educate yourself about the various disability benefits available. We understand that you already have your hands full and therefore may not have time to do the necessary research. Therefore, we offer you an easier option.
