The National Benefit Authority

Founded with a simple goal in mind: To help Canadians with medical conditions receive a Disability Tax Credit from the Canadian Government!

Many Canadians with medical conditions qualify for substantial sums of money from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) of which they are unaware. At the National Benefit Authority, we specialize in a CRA program called the Disability Tax Credit that allows us to recover up to $50,000 on your behalf. We do all the hard work to make sure you receive every dollar the CRA owes you.

We have successfully processed claims for virtually every kind of medical conditions including depression, learning disabilities, addiction, anxiety and other hard-to-define conditions. Already receiving medical condition benefits? We have helped many Canadians just like you recover thousands more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you do?
We specialize in all the processes involved with the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) applications. Our clients are Canadian taxpayers who have medical conditions that may qualify them to receive substantial refunds via the DTC and related programs.
How long does it take?
The majority of our clients receive money less than 150 days after their claim is filed.
How do I get the money? How does it come to me?
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will generally deposit the funds directly into your bank account, however you can choose to receive a physical check if you prefer.
Do I get the money all at once or in installments?
Generally you will receive your money in 2-3 installments.
Does the severity of my symptoms impact how much I can receive?
No, once you are deemed eligible for the DTC, the amount the government allocates for each tax year is the same for everyone regardless of the medical condition. The actual size of your refund, however can vary greatly based on other factors such as age, province of residence, marital status, your overall tax situation and the number of years in which you qualify for the DTC. We will thoroughly analyze every angle of your claim to ensure you receive the maximum available to you.
Are there any restrictions on how the money can be spent?
No. The government wants Canadians living with medical conditions to enjoy a similar lifestyle to those living without medical conditions. They recognize that a medical condition can be financially taxing so they grant these funds to help alleviate the additional expenses. However, what you do with the funds is up to you – you can purchased specialized medical equipment, pay off debt or take that long deserved vacation.
Is my information secure?
The National Benefit Authority (NBA) treats your privacy with the utmost respect. You can be confident your information will not be compromised or mistreated in any way.
Why didn't my accountant tell me I qualify for so much money?
Although your accountant or tax preparation firm may be aware of the Disability Tax Credit, they do not participate in the actual approval process. At the NBA we specialize in all the medical and financial aspects of the DTC and we are directly involved in every stage of the application. We have the experience and knowledge that gives you the best opportunity for a successful claim.
What about my doctor, how come he never told me I qualify?
Doctors are there to help you physically - finances and taxes are not their area of expertise.
Can I do this myself?
You can, however applying on your own may result in an increased likelihood of rejection and even if accepted the amounts received may be far less than what you actually deserve. To ensure you give yourself the best chance of success let the experts at the National Benefit Authority work on your behalf.
Will I have to pay taxes on the money I receive?
No. The money is non-taxable.
Will this affect my future in any way?
Yes. You will have greater financial independence!
Will I still be able to get approved for OSAP or Student loans?
Yes. Any money you receive has no effect on your eligibility.
What if I owe student loans?
As long as your student loans are in good standing any funds you receive will have no impact on your loans.
Will this affect my eligibility for ODSP or similar provincial programs?
We will work with you and your family to ensure any funds you receive will have minimal impact on your ODSP eligibility
I don't earn any income, do I qualify?
Of course. Our Benefit Specialists can obtain large amounts of money regardless of income level if you have family members who provided support. See the next FAQ.
If I don't earn sufficient income to receive the maximum amount available, am I out of luck?
Not at all. In most cases, we can claim the funds via an immediate family member such as parent, child, sibling, grandparent, aunt, uncle, father/mother in-law, brother/sister in-law.
I make a pretty decent living. Am I eligible? Maybe I make too much money to apply?
All income levels are eligible. We've successfully processed claims for Canadians at all income levels.
Can I apply for a family member?
Yes, and if the person with the medical condition does not have sufficient income to qualify for the full amounts then you can receive the credits directly. What you do with the money is entirely up to you.
Can I claim on behalf of my child?
Yes. Not only can parents of children with medical conditions apply on behalf of their children, the Canadian government grants additional amounts for children under 18. In many situations we can claim these additional amounts even if the child is now over 18.
If the person with the medical condition is deceased can a family member still apply for this money?
Yes. As long as the person has been deceased for under ten years.
Does my doctor need to complete any forms?
In most cases, yes. However, there is no need to visit your doctor to inquire about eligibility prior to beginning the application process with us. We will advise you when (and if) that will be necessary.
My doctor said I won't be approved, is she right?
Not necessarily. The eligibility requirements for the Disability Tax Credit are not so clear-cut and your doctor's opinion may differ from how the CRA views your medical condition. We will conduct a thorough review to ensure your claim is given the best possible opportunity to succeed.
My doctor of many years has retired and my new doctor doesn't really know me, can I still apply?
Not a problem, part of what we do is communicate with your doctor on your behalf to ensures he/she understands the process and how you may be eligible for the Disability Tax Credit.
I have applied for something similar before, is it worth it for me to contact you?
Yes. Many of our clients who come to us have already received portions of this money and we are still able to get them far more by maximizing their claims.
Sounds like an amazing service, is there any cost to use The National Benefit Authority?
Our commitment to you is that there is no additional cost until we are successful in generating a refund for you from the Canada Revenue Agency.
What if I owe money to the CRA?
The CRA will first pay off your debts and then send you any remaining balance.
